Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She has written fifteen books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a writer TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Following her move from Greece to England from Greece at 16 She earned an MA in Economics at Cambridge University. When she was 21, she became the president of the famed debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student who was elected to this position. She was an author for a conservative newspaper after graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a year later, she developed an online voice platform which offered critiques of the political landscape. The celebrity she enjoyed helped her to convince several celebrities to contribute their opinion about current affairs, as well as politics and culture. Arianna was famous when she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent Candidate for the California Recall Election to replace the former governor Davis. In addition to this, she led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. She was named The Most Influential Women in Media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009 and was awarded the 12th place in this list. That same year Guardian named her on the Top 100 Media List. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made the president of that media unit, which comprised of many existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli the other, both of whom are journalist and management consultants. Although she was a close friend to her father, it was her bond with her mother that shaped her entire life. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. At 16 years of age she relocated back to United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years, where she was the first woman to hold the position of the president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. Her professional career as an anchor and reporter began after she graduated. In addition, she was a part of an edition of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from him.
